Nordlux Canto Maxi 2 49721010 is a grey wall light with an aluminium body and clear glass at the light openings. Its curved front conceals the lamps when viewed head-on, while light leaves the fitting upwards and downwards. It is a way to accent a wall rather than a fitting with a large, glowing shade.
Two GU10 lamps shape the result
There are two GU10 sockets, each rated for a bulb of up to 28 W. The specification of 2 × 28 W is a maximum lamp rating, not a fixed electricity consumption for the fitting. Bulbs are not supplied, so include them in your purchase planning. Their specifications determine the brightness, colour temperature and beam angle.
Consider the upper and lower bulbs together when choosing them: different lamps can produce different effects above and below the body. The illuminated photograph illustrates the direction of light, rather than promising a particular colour temperature or lumen output with every bulb choice.
Allow for the body and the beams
The manufacturer's drawing gives a height of 17.2 cm, a width of 8.7 cm and a projection from the wall of 10 cm. Compare these measurements with the intended wall area, nearby doors, corners and other fittings before installation. Space above and below the housing also matters if you want both beams to remain visible on the wall.
The instructions specify wall mounting and state that mounting screws are not included. This 230 V fitting is Class I and requires a protective earth connection. Provision for parallel connection is built into the design.
Outdoor walls and understated interiors
Its IP44 rating and confirmed outdoor use make the light an option for a facade or a wall beside a terrace or balcony. The manufacturer also permits indoor use, where the upward and downward light can accent a hallway or staircase wall. The grey finish and rounded, unornamented front suit modern and minimalist schemes. This particular grey version is not suitable for seaside conditions.
