Marietta 99167 is a three-light pendant with metalwork in an antique brass plated finish, hung with two tiers of clear glass rods. The rods diffuse the light of the lamps and form a 40 cm cascade held at the top by a brass ring. Endon describes it as a contemporary take on the classic chandelier.
Size and suspension
The pendant is 40 cm across, and its overall height adjusts on the chain from 60 to 168 cm, with 1.2 m of clear cable running through the chain. Above a dining table the lower edge usually sits 70–80 cm over the tabletop, and a 40 cm diameter keeps its proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide.
The fitting weighs about 3.6 kg, so the maker recommends fixing it to a solid surface, preferably a joist. The screws and wall plugs supplied are for masonry only — for any other ceiling the fixings have to be bought separately.
Lamps and dimming
There are three E14 lampholders, each taking an LED lamp of up to 7 W. No lamps are included. The lamps themselves show through the clear rods; among its associated products Endon lists E14 LED filament golf-ball and candle lamps.
The fitting is dimmable, but that needs a dimmer in the wiring and E14 lamps marked as dimmable — an ordinary LED lamp on a dimmer will flicker or not work at all.
Where it goes and how it is installed
The maker intends Marietta for hanging over a dining table and in living rooms. It is for domestic ceiling use only and is not suitable for a bathroom.
It is a Class I fitting and must be earthed; Endon recommends installation by an electrician and connection via a wall switch. The Marietta range also includes, among others, a five-light pendant, a wall light and ceiling fittings in the same finish.
