NORLYS Rimini 404BL is a 114 cm garden bollard in the classic shape of a street lantern: a slender post topped with a hexagonal lantern with a pointed roof and finial. The post and housing are cast aluminium powder-coated black (RAL 9005), and the lantern panes are clear, UV-stabilised polycarbonate.
Dimensions and installation
The bollard is 114 cm tall and the lantern is 19 cm wide — compare that height with the plants along the path where it will stand. It is intended for gardens, terraces and the grounds of hotels and restaurants.
The base is fixed with two screws through ø5.5 mm holes spaced 90 mm apart. For setting it into the ground the manufacturer offers a concreting anchor (index 307), sold separately. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the supply can be looped on to the next luminaire (up to 2 × 1.5 mm²). The EPDM cable gland takes a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor; the manufacturer's manual calls for connection by a licensed electrician.
Which light source it takes
The lantern has an E27 lampholder for an A55–A60 bulb up to 110 mm long. The manufacturer allows an LED source of up to 9 W, and the bulb is user-replaceable. The colour and brightness of the light therefore depend on the bulb you choose — 2700 K gives a warm, yellowish light close to a traditional incandescent bulb. The panes are clear, so the bulb itself is visible through them.
Resistance to outdoor conditions
IP54 means protection against dust and water splashes from any direction, so the bollard can stand in the garden without any cover. The manufacturer specifies an operating temperature range of −20 to +45 °C, a 25-year anti-corrosion warranty and a 5-year warranty on the luminaire.
The Rimini series also includes the lower 250 version, 47 cm tall, and the white variant 404WH.
