GFA1681N adjustable ceiling spot light matt black LED 9 W 4000 K Gea Luce

GFA1681N is an adjustable ceiling spot from Gea Luce: a fluted aluminium cylinder hung from a small canopy and finished in matt black. The body rotates and tilts, so the light can be aimed where it is needed.

Dimensions and adjustment

The canopy is 50 mm across and 25 mm deep, and the cylinder itself is 51 mm in diameter and 115 mm long. A fitting this small almost disappears on the ceiling, and several in a row read as a line of small points rather than one large ceiling light. The body rotates through 360° and tilts from vertical through 0–90°, so a wall, a picture, a shelf or a worktop can be lit from a fitting mounted somewhere other than directly above it.

What light it gives

The integrated 9 W LED module delivers 780 lm, roughly what an old 60 W bulb gave. A colour temperature of 4000 K is neutral white, suited to places that want clear, businesslike light, and a CRI above 80 is enough for everyday tasks. The 40° beam is fairly focused: the spot lights a chosen part of the room rather than the whole space.

The LED module and the transformer are included and the fitting runs straight off the 230 V mains, so no separate driver has to be bought. The light source is built in, with a rated life of 50,000 hours. The fitting is on/off only and does not work with a dimmer.

Installation and placement

This is a Class II fitting, so it needs no protective earth conductor. The IP20 rating means it is for dry rooms only — not next to a shower and not outdoors. It weighs 0.29 kg and suits a living room or a hallway, where a few points of directional light take the place of a central lamp.
