Huguenot Lake is a bathroom wall light with a single shade of glass with trapped air bubbles, set on a round wall backplate 13.3 cm across. The collection was designed by Generation Lighting (Feiss) and is distributed by Elstead Lighting. Version FE-HUGOLAKE1BATH-BB comes in the Burnished Brass finish – a warm, polished brass with a satin sheen.
Size and mounting
The light is 24.8 cm tall and projects 15.2 cm from the wall. Compare that projection with any shelf or mirror cabinet above the basin – it decides whether the shade fits beside them. The fitting weighs 1.25 kg.
The manufacturer allows it to be mounted with the shade facing up or down. Facing down, more light falls on the basin and your face; facing up, it brightens the wall above the fitting. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earth conductor.
Light source included
One 3 W G9 LED capsule is supplied, giving 300 lm – roughly what a traditional 28 W bulb produced. That is enough to light the area by a mirror, not a replacement for ceiling lighting. 3000 K is warm white, and CRI 80 means standard colour rendering. The manufacturer rates the supplied capsule at 25,000 hours; after that, any G9 capsule can go in its place.
The supplied capsule is dimmable and the fitting works with dimmable lamps – you will also need a dimmer in the circuit to adjust the brightness.
Bathroom use and style
IP44 means protection against water splashed from any direction, which is why the manufacturer rates the light for bathrooms. The collection draws on the early Colonial style: concentric rings on the backplate, a hand-spun shade holder and clear seeded glass through which the capsule is visible. The same series includes two- and three-light versions and a chrome finish.
