Huguenot Lake is a three-light bathroom wall light by Feiss (Generation Lighting), distributed by Elstead Lighting. A horizontal arm sits on a round wall plate with concentric rings, and three bell-shaped shades of clear seeded glass, with small air bubbles in it, hang from the arm. The steel is finished in Burnished Brass, a warm, polished metal tone.
Size and mounting above a mirror
The wall light is 53.3 cm wide and 24.8 cm high, and projects 15.2 cm from the wall. Compare the width with the mirror or basin it is going above. The shades can be mounted facing down or up. The fitting weighs 2.5 kg.
The IP44 rating means it is protected against splashing water, which is why the manufacturer intends it for bathrooms. It is a class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor.
Light sources included
Three replaceable 3 W G9 LED capsules come in the box, each equivalent to a 28 W traditional bulb. They give 3000 K, a warm white, at 300 lm each — about 900 lm together, slightly more than an old 60 W bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough for everyday bathroom lighting.
The manufacturer gives the capsules a life of 25,000 hours, about 23 years at three hours a day. When one wears out, it is replaced with a new G9 capsule. The fitting works with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs G9 lamps marked as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit.
Style
The manufacturer describes the range as a classic rendition of an early Colonial look: the circular wall-plate motif, hand-spun fitters and seeded glass. The Huguenot Lake range also has one- and two-light versions and a polished chrome finish.
