Lofoten Down 1969BC Outdoor Wall Light, Black with Copper Patina, E27, NORLYS

The Lofoten Down 1969BC is an outdoor wall light shaped as a square lantern hanging below an arm. The steel body is finished in black with a copper patina, and all four sides of the lantern are filled with an opal PMMA diffuser. The form is classic and plain: a frame, an arm and a flat wall bracket with no ornament.

Dimensions and wall mounting

The lantern itself is 19 × 19 cm in section and 30 cm tall; with the bracket the light measures 39 cm. It projects 28.4 cm from the wall, a figure to check against the door frame, a downpipe or the walkway next to the mounting point. The light weighs 2.89 kg.

The bracket is screwed on through two 5 × 10 mm slotted holes at 35 mm centres, and the manufacturer also allows mounting on the corner of a building. Other mounting accessories are bought separately. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the light can be looped through with conductors up to 2 × 1.5 mm², so it can feed the next fitting on the same circuit. The supply cable should have a round sheath of 7–10.5 mm in diameter.

Light source and light quality

Inside is a single E27 lampholder for an A55–A60 shaped bulb, for which the manufacturer gives a limit of 11 W LED. The bulb is not included, so you choose the colour temperature and brightness yourself, and changing it needs no service call — the user does it.

The lampholder points downwards, and the opal diffuser hides the bulb and spreads its light. From outside you see evenly lit lantern sides rather than a bright point, which matters by a front door or on a terrace, where the light is seen at close range.

Construction and where to fit it

The body is made of electro-galvanised, powder-coated steel. IP44 means protection against splashing water and rain from any direction, and protection class II means double insulation, so the light needs no earth conductor.

The manufacturer intends the Lofoten Down for terraces, entrances and garden gazebos. Norlys also offers the same wall light in black as 1969BL.
