Louvre is a flush ceiling light shaped like a box-shaped cage: a steel frame painted gunmetal – dark grey with lighter brushed highlights – whose sides are filled with horizontal, angled slats of clear glass arranged like a louvre. It is Elstead Lighting's own line, which the manufacturer describes as having a gentle industrial character.
Size and fitting
The fitting has a 39.2 × 39.2 cm footprint and is 31.4 cm high – that is how far it drops below the ceiling, so subtract it from your own room height. The square plan lines up easily with the walls or the edges of a table.
It weighs 7.02 kg, noticeably more than a typical ceiling light, so check before installation that the fixing point in the ceiling can carry that weight. It is a Class I fitting and must be connected to a protective earth conductor. The manufacturer intends it for interiors.
Which bulbs and what light
Inside are four E27 sockets, each rated for a maximum of 60 W. Bulbs are not included – you need to buy four. The glass slats are clear, so the bulbs stay visible and form part of the look; the manufacturer pairs the fitting with filament-style bulbs and recommends a clear A60 E27 LED bulb, sold separately.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps: dimming needs four E27 bulbs sold as dimmable and a suitable dimmer. The angled slats reflect and refract the light, casting horizontal highlights on the ceiling and walls.
Which rooms it suits
The light is listed for bedrooms and dining rooms. The style is industrial: a visible metal frame, a raw finish and exposed bulbs, softened by the clear glass.
