Lucide EMILE is a two-light ceiling spotlight. A round black ceiling plate 20 cm across carries two metal shades in matt gold, each on its own black bracket. The shades are cylindrical, 7.5 cm in diameter and 8.3 cm long. The fitting is surface-mounted, so no cut-out in the ceiling is needed.

How the light is aimed

Each shade rotates and tilts through a full 360 degrees, independently of the other. One head can therefore be aimed at a worktop or a picture while the second is bounced off the ceiling — a single supply point gives two separately adjustable beams. The manufacturer states the light direction as downward, so in the starting position both heads point straight down.

The height is not adjustable; the manufacturer gives the same figure as both minimum and maximum. How far the shades reach below the ceiling depends only on the angle you set.

Which lamps fit and what you need to buy

The fitting takes two lamps with a GU10 base in the MR16 format, each up to 8 W, running on 230 V. The 8 W limit applies per socket, not to the fitting as a whole.

Lamps are not included, so you choose the colour and the brightness yourself. Lucide names its own article 49006/05/30 as the recommended source — a GU10 LED of 5 W at 3000 K, warm white light close to a traditional bulb. Mounting hardware is supplied with the fitting.

Dimming and switching

The fitting is operated from an ordinary wall switch and carries no control electronics of its own. Dimming is allowed for, but it needs two separately bought parts: a dimmer fitted in the switch box and a GU10 lamp described as dimmable. No dimmer is included.

Build and where it goes

Shades, brackets and ceiling plate are all metal, electro-galvanised and finished matt. The whole fitting weighs 0.35 kg, so it loads the ceiling less than most fittings of this size. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only, and gives a two-year guarantee on the fixture.

Lucide classes EMILE as a modern design: a plain cylindrical form without ornament, and matt gold set against the black brackets and plate. The listed uses are the living room, kitchen, entrance hall, corridor, office and study — rooms where light is more often aimed at one spot than spread across the whole area.
