Malibu is a wall light from Generation Lighting (Feiss), distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. Its drum shade of etched opal glass sits on a stepped, turned cup, carried on an arm that leaves an oval backplate stepped in the same way. The steel frame is finished in polished brass, which picks up the light in crisp lines along the steps of the plate and cup.
Size and where to mount it
The light is 21.6 cm high and 12.9 cm wide and projects 16 cm from the wall. When fitting it beside a mirror, compare that projection with the depth of the cabinet or shelf below, so the shade stays clear of it.
An IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, which is why the manufacturer rates the fitting for interiors including bathrooms. It is Class I and must be connected to an earth conductor.
Bulb included
The fitting has one G9 lampholder, and a 3 W G9 LED bulb comes in the box. It gives 3000 K, a warm white, and the manufacturer puts its brightness on a par with a 28 W traditional bulb — accent light beside a mirror or in a row of several wall lights, not the main light for a bathroom. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough for everyday tasks. The manufacturer quotes a lamp life of 25,000 hours, around 22 years at 3 hours a day, after which only the G9 bulb needs replacing.
The wall light works with dimmable bulbs: dimming needs a dimmable G9 bulb and a dimmer switch.

The manufacturer presents Malibu as suited to interiors from classic to modern: a plain milky drum meets stepped details that recall older bathroom fittings. The Malibu range also includes this wall light in brushed brass and polished chrome, and a two-light flush ceiling light.
