Mixon is a semi-flush ceiling light by Quoizel, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. A short sleeve with the lampholder is fixed to a round, screwed-on ceiling plate, and the bulb is surrounded by an open wire cage. The whole fitting is steel in a polished chrome finish.
Size and where it fits
The light is 27.1 cm tall and 14.5 cm in diameter. Compare the height with your ceiling — it projects less than a pendant but noticeably more than a flat flush light. The slim 14.5 cm silhouette takes up little room, so it also fits where a wider fitting would look heavy. It is intended for bedrooms and dining rooms, indoors only.
The light weighs 0.56 kg. It is Class I, which means the ceiling box must provide a protective earth conductor.
Light source
The fitting takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included. The cage has no glass or shade, so the bulb is fully exposed: it defines how the light looks and whether it glares. The manufacturer recommends an Edison-style bulb — an LED filament bulb with a visible filament matches the design, and at a warm 2200–2700 K it does not look harsh.
The light is compatible with dimmable bulbs; dimming needs a dimmer switch and a bulb marked as dimmable.
Style
Mixon is an industrial form: the wire bulb guard familiar from workshop and ship lights meets the mirror shine of chrome here. The plain construction with no ornament suits sparsely furnished interiors with raw materials.
