Moore is a wall light by Hinkley in a Heritage Brass finish – a warm, slightly muted brass – with a slim cylindrical shade of white linen. A square-section upright with decorative collars rises from a rectangular back plate with bevelled edges. The manufacturer describes it as a contemporary take on the traditional torch sconce; it is distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting.
Size and where it fits on the wall
The fitting is 45.6 cm tall and 11.4 cm wide and projects 14 cm from the wall. That makes it tall and narrow – it fits a slim stretch of wall between a door and a corner, either side of a mirror or beside a headboard, and with a 14 cm projection it stays out of the way in a hallway. It weighs 0.81 kg. Protection class I means it must be connected with a protective earth conductor.
What light it gives
Inside is a single E14 lampholder for a bulb of up to 40 W. No bulb is included – the manufacturer suggests a separately sold LED candle lamp. The linen shade is open at the top and bottom, so light falls in a band up and down the wall while the fabric itself glows with soft, diffused light. It is mood and orientation lighting rather than the main light for a room. The fitting works with dimmable lamps, provided the bulb is marked as dimmable.
Construction and use
The body is steel, and the shade is bound at its top and bottom edges with a trim that sharpens its outline. The close-ups show a matt, warm brass tone with gentle wear. The shape is classic, with squared-off details. It is for interior use only; the manufacturer intends it for the living room, bedroom, hallway, study and dining room.
