Norlys Bern 651CS Outdoor Wall Light, Corten Steel Colour, Satin Glass, E27 IP54

Bern 651CS is a square outdoor wall light of classic design, finished in a Corten steel colour – a warm, rust-brown tone. Two horizontal bars run across the front, with a satin safety-glass diffuser behind them. The base is a powder-coated aluminium casting.

Dimensions and wall mounting

The fitting measures 24.5 × 24.5 cm and projects 12 cm from the wall – compare these figures with the free wall area beside your front door or on the balcony. It weighs 2.9 kg and is fixed through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 170 × 50 mm. Any other mounting accessories are bought separately.

The terminals accept conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the cable entry takes a round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Fittings can be looped through with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several wall lights on one facade can share a single supply line. This is a Class I luminaire, so it must be connected to protective earth, and it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Bulb and type of light

The light has an E27 socket and takes an LED bulb of up to 9 W in the standard A55–A60 shape, meaning a bulb 55–60 mm across; a wider decorative globe will not fit under the diffuser. No bulb is included and the user replaces it, so colour and brightness are your choice. Norlys lists the Philips Master LEDbulb and the Osram LED Parathom Classic E27 among suitable lamps.

The satin glass diffuses the light: the bulb is not visible from outside, and the wall around it gets an even, soft glow rather than a harsh point.

Weather resistance and spare parts

IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the light can be mounted on an exposed wall. The housing's impact resistance is rated IK07, and a silicone gasket seals the joint between diffuser and body.

The diffuser (service kit 06650004) and the gasket (08652663) are available as spare parts, so cracked glass can be replaced without buying a new fitting.

Style and use

A plain square frame and two bars over frosted glass give the fitting its classic look, suited to a house facade, an entrance or a balcony. In the Bern range, model 651 also comes in black, stainless steel and hot-dip galvanised steel with the same body and technical data, while model 650 has a clear diffuser.
