NORLYS Koster Pro 1835AL post-top luminaire on a straight arm – for ø50 mm spigot, LED 17 W, 4000 K, dimmable, light grey RAL 9006, IP65

Koster Pro 1835AL is a post-top luminaire: a straight arm runs from an upright sleeve 5 cm across to a domed shade 24.5 cm in diameter. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated light grey RAL 9006, and the underside of the shade is closed by a clear, textured cover of UV-stabilised polycarbonate.

Mounting and size

The sleeve fits a ø50 mm pole spigot and slides 80 mm down onto it. No pole is included; it is bought separately. Overall the luminaire is 45 cm long and 24.5 cm high, and weighs 3.27 kg.

What light it gives

It draws 17 W and delivers 2090 lm, enough for a path, the area in front of an entrance or a parking space by the house. 4000 K is neutral white light, and CRI 70 is enough to tell colours apart outdoors but not to render them faithfully. The Ledil VSM lens (IESNA type V) spreads the light widely and evenly all round the pole, and the BUG rating B1-U1-G1 means little light goes upwards.

The luminaire can be dimmed with a phase dimmer, either trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE).

Light source and servicing

The source is a built-in Philips Fortimo FastFlex module with an electronic driver. The LED module and the driver are replaced by a qualified service technician, not by the user; the maker supplies service kit ZS1835zx0010 for them. It rates the module at L90B10 over 100,000 h — about 91 years at three hours a day — and the driver at 50,000 h. Energy efficiency class of the light source: D.

Durability and connection

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, and IK10 is the top grade of enclosure impact resistance. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth.

A 0.25 m lead with a screwless IP68 connector leaves the fitting; the terminals take 2×0.5–2.5 mm² conductors, and the gland seal is chosen to match a round-sheathed cable of 4–8, 8–12 or 10–14 mm. Up to 50 of these luminaires can run on one B16 circuit breaker.

A plain dome on a straight arm is a form in the Scandinavian vein. The luminaire is intended for gardens and parks, and for hotel and restaurant grounds.
