NORLYS Koster Pro 1843AL post-top luminaire – for a ø50 mm spigot, LED 18.4 W, 4000 K, DALI2, light grey RAL 9006, IP65

Koster Pro 1843AL is a luminaire head that slips onto a pole: a domed shade 24.5 cm in diameter on a straight arm, 45 cm long and 24.5 cm high overall. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated in light grey RAL 9006. Only the luminaire is supplied – there is no pole.

Fitting it to the pole and wiring

The luminaire slides onto a ø50 mm pole spigot to a depth of 80 mm; the same head for a ø60 mm spigot is number 1845. The pole and other accessories are ordered separately. A 3.7 m H05VV-F 5G1 cable leaves the luminaire and is connected inside the pole in a suitable junction box.

The side area of the luminaire is 0.045 m², the figure used when choosing a pole for wind load. The fitting is protection class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth. The manufacturer also states how many of these luminaires one circuit can supply given their inrush current: 18 on a B10 breaker, 29 on B16, 30 on C10 and 49 on C16.

What light it gives

The Philips Fortimo module produces 2801 lm, and 1938 lm leaves the luminaire at a power draw of 18.4 W. 4000 K is a neutral white. The Ledil VSM lens gives a wide, even IESNA type V distribution, symmetric around the pole, and a ULOR of 0% means the fitting sends no light upwards – all of it reaches the surface below. The manufacturer gives the photometry for a mounting height of 3.3 m.

The Philips Xi driver works with DALI2 and NightDim and is set to maximum current at the factory; Norlys programs other parameters by arrangement with its sales department.

Build and servicing

The shade is clear structured polycarbonate, UV-stabilised. IP65 means a dust-tight luminaire protected against water jets, and IK10 an impact resistance of 20 J.

The LED module and driver are replaced by a professional service; the manufacturer offers the ZS1843zx0010 repair kit and the 911750000 electrical repair kit for this luminaire. The module is rated at over 100,000 h to 90% of its flux (L90B10) and the driver at 100,000 h. The luminaire is intended for parks, avenues and the grounds of hotels and restaurants.
