Lillehammer 2280WH is an outdoor wall light from the Norwegian brand NORLYS — a compact, cuboid body in cast aluminium, finished white, throwing light up and down. LED 9 W, 4000 K, IP65.
127 lumens from the fitting — this is accent light, not area light
This is the thing to understand before buying, and it needs two different numbers explained. NORLYS publishes both:
-
Luminous flux of the light source: 1008 lm from a 5.6 W module — that is 180 lm/W, a genuinely high figure, and it is what the energy class C is based on;
-
Luminous flux of the luminaire: 127 lm at 9 W total system power — that is 14.1 lm/W.
The gap is not an error. Lillehammer releases roughly 12% of the light the diodes make, because the optic deliberately squeezes the output into two narrow beams. The practical conclusion is unambiguous though: this is a decorative and wayfinding fitting. It marks a wall, draws two triangles of light on it and shows a route — but it will not light a driveway or a terrace. If you need usable light, plan on several units or on a different fitting.
Up and down: 4° up, 60° down
The fitting emits in two directions, but the two beams are completely different. NORLYS gives 4° upward and 60° downward (or the reverse, depending on how it is mounted).
Four degrees is a beam almost parallel to the wall — it draws a narrow, hard wedge of light running vertically upward and picks out the texture of render, brick or timber. Sixty degrees downward gives a far wider pool that reaches pavement level. The effect is asymmetric by design: a fine accent above, a usable pool below at the door.
The ULOR figure of 20% says one fifth of the emitted light goes above the horizontal — relevant wherever local light-pollution rules apply.
DALI-2 control
Lillehammer 2280WH carries a DALI-2 driver, which is not a given on an outdoor fitting this size. It means smooth dimming and addressing on a bus rather than plain on/off.
That earns its keep on a larger installation: a façade with eight or twelve of these can run at 100% until midnight and 30% until morning, without changing the fittings and without separate circuits. Control of course requires a DALI bus and a controller — this fitting will not work on an ordinary leading-edge dimmer.
Durability and installation
IP65 is full dust protection plus resistance to water jets — the fitting takes rain driven straight at the façade. IK08 means resistance to a 5 J impact, the level appropriate to publicly accessible positions: by a gate, beside a pavement, in an external stairwell.
Installation is specified precisely, and it is worth checking before drilling:
-
Two Ø 5 mm holes at 45 x 130 mm centres;
-
Terminals up to 5 x 1.5 mm², with loop-through wiring — successive fittings connect in series without a separate junction box;
- The gland accepts a round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter.
Protection class I requires an earth conductor. The operating range is -20 to +45 °C, so the fitting is built for a northern winter.

Inrush current — what to plan for on a larger run
NORLYS states an inrush current of 6.7 A over 2.4 µs per fitting. On a single wall light that is irrelevant, but with a dozen on one circuit the pulses add up and can trip an ordinary miniature circuit breaker at the moment of switch-on.
For a façade carrying a dozen or more fittings, plan a type C or D breaker, or split the installation across several circuits. This is exactly the parameter whose absence from a datasheet causes lighting to “mysteriously” trip out at dusk.
