SATELLITE M is a round Nowodvorski ceiling light shaped as a shallow dome of white-lacquered steel. A flat white plastic diffuser closes the whole underside, so the bulbs cannot be seen from any angle. The fitting is made in Poland.
Dimensions and mounting
The light is 58 cm in diameter and 16 cm high — that is all it takes up below the ceiling, which matters in rooms with a low ceiling. It mounts directly to the ceiling. It weighs 3.71 kg, so on a plasterboard ceiling it needs fixing into the supporting structure.
It is a protection class I luminaire: the protective earth conductor must be connected to the earth terminal. Besides the fitting and instructions, the box contains a key for the plexi diffuser and a sensor mounting kit.
How much light SATELLITE M gives
Inside are seven E27 lampholders for replaceable light sources. Bulbs are not included, and the manufacturer allows LED only, up to 25 W per socket — inside a closed shade an incandescent or halogen lamp would give off too much heat. You choose colour and brightness yourself; seven lamps of about 800 lm each, the equivalent of an old 60 W bulb, are enough for main lighting in a larger room.
The light points are split into two sections of two and five sources. If the ceiling box has two switched live wires controlled by a double switch, the smaller group, the larger one or all seven can be lit separately. With a single switch, the fitting lights all points at once.
Which interiors it suits
The manufacturer classes the SATELLITE style as modern: a smooth, undecorated dome in a single white finish. The wide diffuser spreads light over a large area, which is why this ceiling light works in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways, as well as offices, studies, hotel rooms and restaurants.
SATELLITE M is also available in black, silk grey and silk graphite, in the same size.
