Two lights in one sconce — and two switches

TUTOIA is not an ordinary shaded wall light. On a single wall plate the manufacturer has combined two independent sources: a fabric shade on an E27 socket giving soft ambient light, and a swivelling spot on GU10 R35 set lower, on a short arm. Each has its own switch on the body. It is designed for a bedside: one person can read by directed light while the other sleeps, and nobody has to reach for the switch by the door.

A spot you aim

The small cylinder below the shade rotates and tilts, so the beam lands on the page rather than across the whole bed. Worth allowing for at installation: fittings like this are usually hung 10–15 cm above the shoulder line of someone sitting up in bed, so the light falls on your lap and not in your eyes. A projection of 28.5 cm is enough for the spot to clear the edge of a headboard.

Fabric, steel and two tones

The shade is beige fabric with a pronounced linen-like weave — the texture reads at close range and is what gives the fitting its softness. The structure is painted steel in silk grey (RAL 7044), matt and cooler than the shade. Pairing warm beige with cool grey is deliberate, and it lets the sconce sit equally well against pale timber and grey plaster.

You choose the lamps — with one condition

No lamps are included. The manufacturer permits a maximum of 10 W per socket and LED sources only — that is not a suggestion but a design limit set by the fabric shade and the enclosed spot body. A halogen or incandescent lamp of the same wattage puts out far more heat. For the shade, a frosted E27 LED at 2700 K and 600–800 lm suits; for the spot, a narrow-beam GU10 R35 keeps the reading light concentrated.

Installation and ratings

The sconce fixes directly to the wall; the wall plate measures 13 × 4 cm. It is protection class I — an earth conductor is required. IP20 restricts it to dry interiors. Supply ~220–230 V, 50/60 Hz. Note: the mounting kit is not included in the box. The whole fitting is made in Poland.
