Plantation is a five-arm chandelier by Hinkley, distributed by Elstead Lighting. It is made of solid brass in the Burnished Brass finish — a bright, warm, polished brass. Curved arms meet in a central piece with leaf-like cast detailing, and each light sits under a downward-facing shade of clear optic glass shaped like a pineapple.
Size and hanging
The chandelier is 56 cm across and the fitting itself is 62.2 cm tall. It hangs on 152.4 cm of chain, and the overall drop can be set from 72.9 to 229.9 cm — the range to compare with your own room height. Over a table the lower edge of the shades is usually set 70–80 cm above the top, so the light covers the table without dazzling anyone seated.
It weighs 10.96 kg, so it needs a ceiling hook or fixing rated for that weight. It is Class I and must be connected to the protective earth.
Light sources
The chandelier takes five E27 bulbs of up to 60 W each. Bulbs are not included. The shades are clear, so the bulb stays visible, and the textured glass breaks the light into highlights — for mood lighting in a dining room 2700–3000 K, a warm light, is the usual choice. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs: you need a dimmer and bulbs marked as dimmable.
Style and use
The manufacturer calls Plantation a Hinkley classic — the leaf-shaped cast ornament and pineapple shades give it a classic, formal character. It suits the space over a dining table, a living room, a hallway or hotel interiors. The Plantation series also includes wall lights, flush lights and pendants, so several rooms can be lit in the same style.
