The Steinel IS 2360-3 ECO is a surface-wired infrared motion detector for ceiling mounting. Three pyro sensors give it a 360° field of coverage, and the UV-resistant plastic housing measures 121 mm across and 57 mm deep. This unit is painted to order.

What its reach actually is

The manufacturer publishes two different figures, and they are what decides where the detector goes: tangential reach Ø 24 m (452 m²), radial reach Ø 6 m (28 m²). Tangential applies to someone walking across the field, radial to someone walking straight at the unit. A detector over a corridor you approach head-on therefore covers several times less ground than the same detector over a crossing route.

Mounting height runs from 2.50 to 6.00 m, with 2.8 m given as the optimum. That is the figure to compare against the ceiling height where the detector is to work.

What it can switch

The switching output takes 2000 W of resistive load, but LED sources have lower limits: 500 W for lamps above 8 W, 300 W for 2–8 W and 100 W below 2 W, with a maximum of eight lamps. An installation with more than ten LED fittings will not exceed the wattage — it will exceed that count.

Settings, supply and installation

The twilight threshold (2–1000 lx) and the on-time (5 s to 15 min) are set on potentiometers on the unit itself; there is no remote and no app. Shrouds are included for masking out parts of the field when the detector should ignore a roadway or a neighbouring door. Up to five detectors can be wired together to work as a group.

The unit runs off a 220–240 V mains supply and draws 0.56 W of its own. Protection class II removes the need for an earth conductor, and IP54 together with an ambient range of −20 to 50 °C allows outdoor mounting as well.

Painted to order

This version is prepared to order: the housing is finished in a colour the client specifies instead of the factory white RAL 9010. The technical data is unchanged — the painting affects the housing surface only.
