STEINEL IS 3360 MX Highbay DALI-2 APC 010577 motion sensor, square surface-mounted white

The STEINEL IS 3360 MX Highbay 010577 is a ceiling-mounted infrared motion sensor in the DALI-2 APC version. Its square plastic housing is white, specified as RAL 9003, with a projecting sensor lens. This is the surface-mounted variant for controlling lighting inside buildings, rather than the recessed version.

Coverage beneath a high ceiling

The specified mounting range is 4–14 m, with 12 m identified as the optimum height. The manufacturer lists high-bay warehouses, industrial premises and sports halls as applications. Its 360° detection angle covers the area around the mounting position, rather than monitoring only a single approach direction.

Maximum tangential reach is an 18 m radius, equivalent to a 36 m diameter. For movement directly towards the sensor, the stated radial detection diameter is 14 m. This distinction matters when deciding how sensors should be positioned relative to people's routes. Shrouds can mask individual sections of the detection area. Walls and glass interrupt the heat radiation being detected, so the sensor does not detect movement through them.

Choosing the right DALI role

This APC version is an application controller with a DALI Broadcast output for up to 30 electronic control gears. It should not be confused with the DALI-2 IPD version, which has a different role in the installation. Constant-lighting control and a basic-light function are available. The ambient-light threshold can be set between 2 and 1000 lx, while the stay-on time ranges from 5 seconds to 15 minutes.

Settings are made using potentiometers or a compatible remote control. Smart Remote, RC8 and RC5 are listed as accessories; a remote control is not included. Check the intended DALI bus configuration with the installation designer before ordering.

Housing and installation

The package contains one sensor. Its square footprint measures 95 × 95 mm and the overall height is 65 mm. The plain housing has a functional rather than decorative appearance. An IP54 rating does not change the manufacturer's stated indoor application. Ceiling installation and connection to the 220–240 V mains supply must be carried out professionally in accordance with applicable electrical regulations.
