Trio is the lighting brand of TRIO Leuchten GmbH, based in Arnsberg in the German Sauerland. The company describes its aim as bringing innovative lighting ideas and decorative lifestyle products into people's homes, and its range is broad accordingly: ceiling and pendant lights, wall lights, spotlights, floor and table lamps, chandeliers, recessed and clip-on lights, bulbs, ceiling fans, bathroom and outdoor lighting, plus the DUOLINE track system. It is lighting made for houses and flats.

From spotlight bars to rustic lanterns

Trio covers several styles at once. Modern families use matt black, white, nickel and brass-effect metal and slim spotlight bars with GU10 heads. Others lean towards industrial or vintage looks with exposed E27 bulbs, amber glass or wood effect, and there are classic outdoor lanterns in rust or anthracite next to plain cube-shaped wall lights. Many families come as a matching set – pendant, ceiling light, wall light, floor and table lamp – so one look can run through a whole room. Outdoor fittings are rated for the exterior and range from wall lights to bollards and posts.

What to check when choosing

• Integrated LED or bulbs. Many Trio fittings take E27, E14 or GU10 bulbs; others have built-in LED with the lumen output and colour temperature on the product page.
• Remote and colour temperature. Some LED ceiling lights come with a remote control and an adjustable colour temperature, for example 2700–6500 K, so one light can be warm in the evening and cool for work.
• Motion sensor outdoors. Some outdoor wall lights and bollards have a built-in motion sensor, handy at a front door or along a side path.
• IP rating. Outdoor posts such as BLYDE HYBRID are rated IP65; check the rating of each outdoor model against its spot, under a canopy or fully exposed.
• Track system. DUOLINE is a two-phase track; spotlights and adapters must be made for DUOLINE, since other track standards do not fit.
