Brinley is a Kichler flush ceiling light with three clear glass shades shaped like canning jars, set beneath a round ceiling canopy. The steel frame has a brushed brass finish, and each shade is held by a metal clasp that recalls the closure of a preserving jar. The fitting is distributed by Elstead Lighting.
Size and installation
The light is 20.1 cm high and 28.2 cm in diameter, and the round canopy measures 27.9 cm. It sits tight to the ceiling, so it takes only those 20 cm from the room height — a figure to compare with the headroom where it will hang, for instance in a narrow hallway.
The fitting weighs 2.2 kg. It is protection class I, which means the ceiling box must provide an earth conductor for the metal body to be connected to.
Light sources
There are three E27 sockets, each taking a bulb of up to 60 W. Bulbs are not included. The shades are clear glass, so the bulb stays on show — its shape and colour become part of the look, which is why it matters how the bulb looks without a cover.
The light can be dimmed if you fit bulbs marked as dimmable and use a dimmer in the installation. The light colour comes with the bulb you choose: 2700 K is warm, slightly yellow light, 3000 K is warm white.
Style and use
The manufacturer describes the Brinley collection as vintage: the form borrows from glass canning jars, and the brushed brass has a warm tone with a soft satin sheen rather than a mirror shine. The light is intended for interiors — bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways. The same series also comes in brushed nickel and Olde Bronze finishes.
