DELTA 8370 is a recessed spotlight: a square black bezel 8.5 cm on a side with a round reflector set deep inside it. This is not a fitting mounted onto the ceiling — the whole body disappears into the board and only the face stays visible.

Square outside, round in the hole

The bezel is square, but the hole you have to cut is round, ø 7.5 cm — the same as for an ordinary round downlight. That means these can replace existing fittings without reworking the openings. The body is 11.5 cm tall, and that much clear space has to exist above the board, including room for the cable and the connection box.

IP54 below, IP20 above

The manufacturer states the rating as IP54/20, and that is not a typo: from the room side the fitting is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction, from the ceiling void side it is not. In practice that permits a bathroom, a kitchen and a covered terrace or balcony, provided the space above the ceiling stays dry. The manufacturer's own installation drawing marks the split explicitly.

GU10 in R50 format — and LED only

The socket is GU10, but the manufacturer specifies the lamp format as R50 — a 50 mm reflector. That matters when buying: a standard GU10 is 50 mm across, while wider variants such as ES111 will not go in. The power limit is 15 W and LED sources only — halogen is not permitted, because the housing cannot carry away its heat. No lamp is included, so the colour temperature is yours to choose; it is the only way this fitting can be "configured".

Build and installation

The housing is black lacquered aluminium with glass inside. It is protection class I — an earth conductor is required — at 220-230 V, 50/60 Hz, and weighs 0.23 kg. The manufacturer notes that no mounting kit is supplied: the retaining springs are on the fitting, but screws and plugs for the connection box have to be found separately.
