This is a one-metre length of the flat BASIC cover for LUMINES aluminium profiles — the part that closes the profile channel from above and protects the LED strip glued inside it. Transparent version in PC 2.0 polycarbonate, symbol 11-3533-10.
Transparent means 93% of the light and visible diodes
For this material the manufacturer states 93% light transmission — the highest figure in the whole BASIC family. There is exactly one price for that clarity and it is worth knowing before you buy: through colourless polycarbonate the individual diodes stay visible as a row of dots rather than a continuous line of light. If the profile will sit at eye level or in view from the sofa, the frosted (77%) or milky (53%) version of the same PC 2.0 range makes more sense — you give up some output and get an even line in return.
When transparent is the right choice
Anywhere every lumen counts and the profile itself is not directly in view: worktop lighting under kitchen cabinets, a skirting channel, a ceiling cove working as indirect light, a display case, or behind a masking trim. Above all the cover protects the strip from dust and from being touched — without it an LED tape collects grime that can no longer be cleaned off.
Which profiles it fits
The BASIC shape is shared by a great many LUMINES systems — this cover fits 31 profile families: A, B, C, D, G, H, Y, Z, Q18, W, COSMO, RETO, MONO, TIANO, FLARO, APA12, APA16, IPA12, IPA16, J, Q20, FALCO, GAUDI, V, SLIMO, SONO, BRUNO, CANTO, VIGO, FLEXA, inFLEXA. If your profile is not named here, this cover will not fit it: covers are shaped to a specific channel section, not universal.
Installation and lengths
The cover is pressed in from the end (top) of the profile, so it can be fitted and removed even once the profile is screwed down — useful when the strip is later replaced. It is sold in 1000, 2020 and 3000 mm sections with a +5 mm tolerance; longer sections are made to order. This product is the 1 m length. Polycarbonate cuts with a hacksaw or a snap-off knife — cut slightly long and finish with a file.
PC 2.0 or PMMA
LUMINES offers the transparent BASIC cover in two plastics: PC 2.0 (polycarbonate), this version, and PMMA (acrylic). Both carry the same declared 93% transmission, so the choice is not about how much light you get but about the material and the price. Across the diffusing versions the differences do show: frosted PC 2.0 77% against frosted PMMA 78%, milky PC 2.0 53% against milky PMMA 50%.
