LID ROUND LED 15W is a round surface-mounted ceiling light in white, 11 cm across and 4 cm high. The body is plastic, closed underneath by a flat opal diffuser, with a group of ventilation slots in the side wall.

How big it is and how it mounts

At 11 cm across the fitting takes up less ceiling than most ceiling lights and stands 4 cm proud of it — compare that figure with how much room you are willing to give up over a narrow hallway or a staircase.

The manufacturer specifies direct mounting to the ceiling, and the mounting kit is in the box along with the fitting and two instruction sheets. The luminaire weighs 0.13 kg, so it loads neither a suspended ceiling nor a plasterboard sheet.

How much light it gives

The fitting draws 15 W and gives 1600 lm. An old 60 W bulb gave around 800 lm, so this one small body puts out roughly what two of them did — real main lighting for a small room rather than a decorative point.

4000 K is neutral white: cooler than incandescent light and with no yellow cast, usually chosen for kitchens, hallways and work rooms. A colour rendering index above 80 is enough for everyday use, and the 120 degree beam spreads the light wide, so the fitting lights the whole area beneath it rather than a narrow patch.

The diodes are built in permanently and there is no bulb holder — at the end of their life the whole fitting is replaced. The manufacturer states 30,000 h of operation.

The luminaire is protection class II, so no earth conductor is needed to connect it, and it is intended for indoor use only. Supply is ~220-230 V, 50/60 Hz.

LID ROUND LED is a family of ceiling lights in four wattages — 15, 25, 35 and 50 W — at 3000 K or 4000 K and in a white or black housing. Higher wattages also mean larger diameters, so several rooms can be lit with the same pattern in graded sizes.
