Monaco W0288 is a wall light from the Max Light Monaco range: a gold metal frame hung with vertical glass crystals set in two tiers — a wider one above and a narrower one below. The crystals are colourless and clear, so they break the light across the wall and ceiling.
How much wall it takes up
The fitting is 18 cm wide, 19 cm high and projects 11 cm from the wall. That last figure is the one that counts in a narrow hallway: against the 80 cm of clear passage usually allowed for, a sconce reaching this far takes a noticeable share of it, so in a tight corridor it is better mounted above shoulder height.
Behind the fitting sits a concealed round mounting plate, and the whole supporting structure is a gold ring from which the crystals hang — which is why the sconce looks different from every angle and takes well to a position you pass sideways.
Which lamps you need to buy
The fitting takes two G9 lamps, each rated up to 40 W at 230 V. Lamps are not included. Because the crystals are clear, the G9 capsule behind them is visible — a lamp with a milky, frosted envelope gives a calmer result than a clear capsule with a visible emitting point.
The manufacturer states that the fitting cannot be wired to a dimmer, so brightness is set purely by the lamps you choose. Two G9 lamps of around 400 lm each add up to what the old 60 W incandescent gave — accent light rather than the main lighting of a room.
Build
The structure is metal in a polished gold finish, and every decorative element is cut glass. The crystals are elongated prisms hung vertically and arranged in progressively smaller circles, which produces the two-step, tiered shape.
Dust shows sooner on clear glass than on a fabric shade, and cleaning means wiping the crystals one by one. The fitting is intended for dry interiors; the Monaco range also includes larger fittings using the same crystal pattern.
