Norlys Asker Big 1308GR outdoor wall light, graphite RAL 7016, LED 7.2 W 3000 K, downward light, IP65

The Asker Big 1308GR is an outdoor wall light shaped as a horizontal rectangular block of die-cast aluminium, powder-coated graphite (RAL 7016). It is 30.2 cm wide and 12.5 cm high and projects 12.1 cm from the wall. The underside is a diffuser of clear, textured UV-stabilised polycarbonate, so all light leaves downwards.

What light it gives

Two integrated LED modules are rated at 997 lm together, and 618 lm leave the fitting. The textured diffuser spreads them into a wide, hemispherical downward beam, and Norlys states a ULOR of 0%: nothing shines above the level of the fitting, so the wall below and the ground are lit while windows and sky above stay dark. The light draws 7.2 W and shines at 3000 K, a warm white, with colour rendering of CRI 80.

Dimming, service and emergency supply

It is phase-dimmable with trailing-edge (TE) control, using a dimmer usually marked RC. The LED modules and driver are replaced by a professional service; Norlys offers the service kit ZS1308zx0013 as well as separate kits with the LED module and with the driver. The modules are rated for more than 102,000 h (L80) and the driver for 50,000 h. According to the datasheet the fitting is also suitable for emergency installations supplied with 180–280 V DC.

Installation and connection

IP65 means a dust-tight housing that resists water jets, and IK08 its impact resistance. It is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth (PE) conductor. It can be screwed on directly through two ø5 mm holes 68 mm apart, or via an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm adjustment slots 45 mm apart.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and a round cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter enters through an EPDM gland. Further fittings can be looped through with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm²; because of the 8 A inrush current Norlys allows 46 fittings per breaker on B10, 75 on B16, 74 on C10 and 120 on C16. It suits facades, fences and balconies as well as the fronts of hotels and restaurants.
