NORLYS Asker 5124GR bollard light, graphite RAL 7016, LED 7.2 W 4000 K, 85 cm, IP65

Asker 5124GR is a bollard light shaped like an upside-down L: a straight column 11 cm wide ends in a horizontal arm with a 20 cm reach, and the light falls downward from under that arm. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in graphite RAL 7016, a dark, cool grey. Under the arm sits a clear polycarbonate cover with a textured surface that diffuses the individual LED points.

Size and installation

The bollard is 85 cm tall and fits a 20 × 11 cm footprint. The light source is at the very top and shines down onto the surface next to the bollard, not into the eyes of people walking past.

It is bolted down through four ø8 mm holes spaced 18 × 50 mm apart. Concreting anchors, ground anchors and mounting adapters are sold separately by the manufacturer, so they need to be chosen for the ground and bought in addition. The terminals let the supply continue to the next fitting, so several bollards along a path can run on one circuit. The fitting is protection class I and needs an earth connection.

What light it gives

The source is an integrated LED module: the fitting draws 7.2 W and puts out 600 lm. That is enough for a path and its immediate surroundings, not for lighting a whole garden from one point. 4000 K is neutral white light with no yellow tint, and CRI 80 renders paving and plants the way outdoor lighting usually does. A ULOR of 0.6% means only a negligible share of the light goes upward.

Brightness can be adjusted with a trailing-edge phase dimmer. The LED module and the driver are replaced by a qualified person when needed, not by the user. The manufacturer rates the module at over 52,600 hours to a 10% drop in light output.

Where it fits

IP65 means protection against dust and water jets from any direction, so the bollard stands outdoors without cover. IK10 is the top of the impact-resistance scale for the housing, 20 J. The fitting operates from −20 to +45 °C.

Asker is intended for garden paths, terraces and driveways, as well as parks, streets and the grounds of hotels and restaurants. The form is modern and minimalist: flat faces, sharp edges and no ornament, which suits concrete, brick and render. In the same 5124 version the manufacturer also offers black and light grey.
