The Koster 5006AL is a post-top luminaire: a dome shade 24.5 cm in diameter hung from a straight arm, measuring 45 cm in total from the pole axis to the edge of the shade. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated in light grey RAL 9006 (listed by Norlys as ALUMINIUM), and the underside is closed by a clear, textured UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser.
How it lights
An integrated 17.5 W Philips Fortimo LED module powers the luminaire. The module produces 2050 lm and 1625 lm leave the luminaire – enough to light a path, driveway or part of the garden around the pole clearly. The 4000 K colour temperature is neutral white, cooler than a household bulb, and the Ra 80 colour rendering shows paving and plants correctly, though less faithfully than Ra 90 luminaires.
The light is directed symmetrically downwards and the upward light share is 0% (BUG rating B1-U1-G0), so the luminaire does not shine into the sky or into the windows of nearby buildings. It cannot be dimmed. The manufacturer gives the module a lifetime of L70 over 50,000 h; the LED module (spare part 46999752) is replaced by a professional service and is not meant to be swapped by the user.
Mounting on the pole
The luminaire slips onto a Ø60 mm pole spigot to a depth of 80 mm. The pole is not included – it has to be chosen separately, checking that its top end has exactly this size. The luminaire comes with a 3.7 m H05VV-F 3G1 cable that is connected inside the pole in a suitable junction box. It is a protection class I luminaire, so the protective earth conductor must be connected.
The weight of 3.25 kg and the side surface of 0.045 m² are the figures to check against the permitted load of the pole, including wind load. IP54 protects against dust and splashing water from any direction, and IK10 means resistance to an impact of 20 J. The luminaire is suited to lighting gardens, terraces and park paths.
