London Big 4138BL is an outdoor wall light in the form of a classic lantern with a four-sided roof, hanging beneath a curved arm. It is made entirely of cast aluminium powder-coated in black (RAL 9005), and an integrated LED module works inside the lantern instead of a bulb.
Size and mounting
The lantern is 30.5 cm wide and 56 cm high and projects 46 cm from the wall, which is the clearance to leave beside doors or shutters that open. It weighs 3.6 kg and fixes with four screws through ø5 mm holes spaced 25 × 140 mm. The manufacturer also allows mounting on a building corner.
The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm² and the gland takes round-sheathed cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter. The fitting is protection class II, so it needs no protective earth. According to the manufacturer, 50 of these fittings can run on one B16A circuit breaker and 31 on a B10A.
How much light it gives
The LED module draws 14.6 W and the fitting delivers 1795 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. That is enough to light a whole entrance, a flight of steps or part of a driveway, not just mark where the lamp hangs. A Ledil VSM lens spreads the light symmetrically around the fitting (IESNA type V distribution), and a ULOR of 0.42% means almost no light escapes upwards. Colour rendering is Ra 80.
Durability and servicing
IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the fitting can hang on an exposed wall. The IK07 rating gives good impact resistance.
The LED module is not user-replaceable: the manufacturer provides for replacement of the light source and driver by a professional service. The driver is rated for 50,000 h and the LED module for over 100,000 h with 90% of its luminous flux maintained (L90B10). The London Big series also includes versions with the lantern standing above the arm and a 4000 K variant.
