Outdoor wall light NORLYS Asker MD1530WH white RAL 9003, LED 9.4 W 4000 K, motion sensor, IP65

Asker MD1530WH is a box-shaped outdoor wall light in white cast aluminium (RAL 9003) that shines up and down at the same time and has a microwave motion sensor built into the body. It measures 22.5 × 11 cm and projects 8.5 cm from the wall. The form is plain and unornamented: a white block on the façade with two beams of light coming out of it.

How the motion sensor works

The luminaire uses an MC119S microwave sensor with a twilight switch. Microwave detection reacts to movement itself, not to body heat. From the factory the sensor covers 100% of its range, holds the light for 5 s and has the twilight threshold switched off, so straight after installation the light comes on at every movement, in daylight too. Afterwards the hold time can be set from 5 s to 30 min, the light threshold from 2 to 50 lx and the range in four steps.

Mounted at 2.5 m, the sensor detects movement about 2 m to each side and 3 m in front of the wall. Compare that range with the length of the path to your door or gate.

How much light and what kind

The LED module delivers 874 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white without a yellow tint, with CRI 80. The luminaire emits 328 lm, half upwards and half downwards, drawing two bright cones on the wall. 328 lm is less than half the light of an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm), so the fitting marks the entrance and the wall rather than lighting a whole driveway. The module is included. Like the driver, it may only be replaced by a professional; the manufacturer offers the ZS1530 service set for this luminaire. On standby the fitting draws 0.1 W.

Installation and build

IP65 sealing and IK08 impact resistance allow the light to be fixed to an exposed wall with no canopy. The diffuser is textured clear polycarbonate, UV-stabilised. The luminaire is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor. It is fixed with two screws through ø4.5 mm holes spaced 180 × 60 mm. A round cable of ø7–10.5 mm enters through an EPDM gland, and the terminals let you loop the supply on to the next luminaire. It works in temperatures from −20 to +45 °C.
