RING LED M is a wall light shaped as a solid round disc of lacquered steel, 25 cm across, in terracotta. The disc is opaque and stands 3 cm off the wall — the light leaves the back of the fitting and falls on the wall around the disc.
How this fitting lights
Because the disc is solid, RING LED M does not light the room but the wall behind it: a glowing ring forms around the rim. This is indirect light to look at, not light to read or work by.
The built-in diode delivers 130 lm at 3000 K, a warm white with a slightly yellow cast. For comparison, an old 60 W incandescent gave around 800 lm — so this fitting is an accent on the wall or an orientation light in a hallway, not general lighting. A colour rendering index above Ra 90 means the colour of the wall, and of anything hanging on it, is not distorted.
How much wall it needs
The disc is 25 cm in diameter and projects only 3 cm from the wall, so the fitting stays out of the way in a narrow hallway or beside a door frame. The glow reaches beyond the outline of the disc, so it is worth leaving some clear wall around it for the ring to fall on. The same series runs 15 cm and 35 cm discs, which lets several diameters be grouped on one wall.
The light source is built in
The LED is integrated into the fitting and has no socket — it cannot be replaced, and the manufacturer states a 30,000 hour life. Nothing has to be bought alongside it, but once the diode is spent the whole fitting is replaced. The fitting draws 10 W and contains a light source of energy class F.
Mounting and what is in the box
The light fixes directly to the wall box. It is protection class I, so an earth conductor must be present in that box, and the connection is an electrician's job. The carton holds only the fitting and the operating and mounting instructions; the fitting weighs 0.71 kg. The manufacturer intends it for indoor use only.
