Roehm is a three-light bathroom wall light by Kichler, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting and designed to go above a mirror. A plain horizontal bar with softened edges has a polished chrome finish, and the three shades of frosted opal glass are squared, flaring slightly towards the top.
How big it is and where to mount it
The wall light is 58.4 cm wide, 18.3 cm high and projects 15.9 cm from the wall. Compare the width with your mirror or vanity cabinet – the fitting should not reach past its edges. The back plate measures 17.1 × 12.7 cm and has to cover the junction box in the wall. The whole fitting weighs 2.28 kg.
The IP44 rating means it is protected against water splashing from any direction, so it can be fitted in a bathroom above the basin, outside the direct reach of the shower spray. It is a Class I fitting, so the installation needs an earth conductor.
What light it gives
The fitting has three G9 lampholders and comes with three 3 W G9 LED bulbs, so there is nothing else to buy. Each gives 300 lm, about 900 lm together, and the manufacturer compares one to a 28 W traditional bulb. 3000 K is warm white, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 is sufficient for everyday tasks at the mirror. The opal glass diffuses the light, so the bulbs do not glare.
The supplied bulbs are dimmable and the fitting works with a dimmer. The manufacturer quotes a life of 25,000 hours, around 22 years at 3 hours a day. When a bulb wears out it is replaced with a standard G9 – the LED is not built into the fitting.
Which interiors it suits
The manufacturer describes Roehm as a simple classic in a modern take: a linear form, softened edges and plain opal glass. It works above a bathroom mirror and at a dressing table, and also in a dining room. The range includes a single-light version as well.
