Sol 4049WH is an outdoor ceiling light shaped as a cylinder 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm high. The body of extruded aluminium profile and aluminium alloy is powder-coated white (RAL 9003), and satin safety glass closes the fitting underneath. The Philips LED module gives warm 3000 K light.
How much light, and what kind
The module produces 2200 lm, and 1618 lm comes through the satin glass at a power draw of 19.3 W – a little more than a traditional 100 W incandescent bulb gave. The satin glass diffuses the light, so the source does not appear as a point. The distribution is symmetric and directed downwards, and a ULOR of 0.3% means practically no light goes up. The manufacturer gives the photometry for a mounting height of 2.5 m.
The driver works with DALI2, so dimming and control go through a DALI2 controller. The fitting is also designed to run on a direct-current supply of 176–280 V DC.
Mounting and wiring
The light is fixed with two screws through ø5 mm holes 100 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 5 × 2.5 mm², and the supply can be looped on to the next fitting with conductors up to 1.5 mm²; the gland seals round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. The fitting is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor, and weighs 2.65 kg.
Build and servicing
IP65 means a dust-tight fitting protected against water jets, so it can also hang outside any cover; IK06 is an impact resistance of 1 J. The seal is silicone and the gland EPDM.
The LED module and driver are replaced by a professional service; the manufacturer offers the ZS4043ZX0009 LED service kit and the ZS4047ZX0009 driver service kit. The module is rated at over 50,000 h until its flux drops to 70% (L70). The plain, minimalist cylinder suits a modern facade – above a terrace, in a summerhouse and elsewhere around the house.
