Aldex Pinne 4 ceiling light, black metal and glass, 1080PL_L1

Aldex Pinne 4 is a black ceiling light with four spherical white-glass shades. Two crossing metal arms spread the globes sideways rather than arranging them in a single row. The matt black frame contrasts with the milky glass. This is the 1080PL_L1 version of the Pinne family.

A wide light on a short ceiling stem

The fitting measures 87 cm wide, 56 cm deep and 38 cm high. A short rigid stem connects the arms to the ceiling canopy, so this is not a pendant suspended from a long cable. Allow for the full spread of the arms when deciding where to install it: the canopy's 10 cm diameter describes only the mounting cover, not the space occupied by the complete fitting.

Each of the four globes is 14 cm in diameter. The layout suits general lighting in a living room, bedroom or hallway, or placement above a dining table. In a lower room, compare the 38 cm drop with the actual clearance above a walking route. Above a table, check the relationship between the light's width and the tabletop rather than judging its size from the canopy alone.

Check bulb shape as well as the cap

There are four E14 lampholders, each rated for an LED bulb of up to 10 W. The manufacturer recommends narrow bulbs no taller than 10.2 cm. A matching cap is therefore only part of the selection: the bulb must also fit inside the glass globe. Choose colour temperature and brightness through the bulbs themselves; the warm appearance of the photographs is not a fixed light specification.

The manufacturer specifies two lighting circuits. Separate switching depends on suitable wiring and connection, and does not mean that a dimmer is built in. The instructions show ceiling mounting with the power isolated before installation.

Black structure, white glass

The straight arms and simple globes support modern, modernist and minimalist interiors. The metal framework also relates to industrial or loft schemes without leaving the bulbs exposed. White glass screens the direct view of the light sources while preserving the contrast with the crossed black arms.
