Bradbury 4 Light Pendant - Grey Ash Elstead

Bradbury is a Quoizel pendant distributed by Elstead Lighting: an open steel frame in the shape of a bell holding four candle-style lamp holders. The lower part of the frame is wrapped in curved, ribbon-like steel strips finished with a small ball. The Grey Ash finish appears in the photos as a dark graphite shade with a fine, slightly rough texture.

Dimensions and suspension

The frame is 40.5 cm in diameter and 51.3 cm tall. A diameter of about 40 cm keeps good proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide. The pendant hangs on a 130 cm chain and the overall drop ranges from 59.3 to 191.3 cm, so the bottom edge can be set 70–80 cm above a tabletop even under a higher ceiling. It weighs 2.4 kg and is Class I, so it must be connected to an earth conductor.

Lamps and light

The fitting takes four E14 lamps of up to 40 W each; lamps are not included. The frame has no shades, so the lamps are fully visible — the maker shows it with clear candle-flame lamps that suit the candle-style holders. With 2700 K lamps the light will be warm and slightly yellowish, and the exposed sources will also light the ceiling and walls around the pendant. The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps: to adjust brightness you need dimmable lamps and a dimmer.

Style and where it goes

The whole construction is steel. The bell shape, candle holders and decorative ribbons give it a classic character, which Elstead describes as suiting both more traditional and modern interiors. The pendant is for indoor use, above a dining table. The Bradbury series also includes a two-light flush ceiling light and wall light and a five-light chandelier, each also available in an Antique White finish.
