ESSEX is a metal wall lamp shaped like an angular cube and finished in matte white. The body is open at the top and at the bottom, so the light from a single G9 lamp leaves in two directions — up and down the wall.
Dimensions and wall mounting
The cube measures 10.5 × 8 × 8 cm, of which 8 cm is the height, and weighs 0.25 kg. It is a small fitting that can also be hung beside a narrow passage — compare the size with the distance to the door frame or corner it will sit next to.
The wall lamp runs directly on 230 V mains, with no extra components needed on the supply side.
What light ESSEX gives
The fitting has one G9 lampholder, and the manufacturer allows a lamp of up to 5 W. The lamp is not included. The 5 W limit means a G9 LED capsule in practice — classic G9 halogens are usually rated much higher. The colour temperature is chosen with the lamp.
Because the light leaves through the top and bottom, it draws two bright bands on the wall above and below the lamp, and the fitting does not light the room straight ahead. This is orientation and accent light, not main lighting. The manufacturer states that the lamp can be dimmed with a suitable light source — this needs a G9 lamp marked as dimmable and a dimmer.
Where it fits
The plain geometric form with no ornament suits modern interiors. The manufacturer intends it for the living room, bedroom and children's room, as well as for the entrance hall, corridor and staircase, where several of these lamps at even intervals mark out a route. It also suits a dining room, hotel or restaurant. ESSEX is also available in brushed aluminium.
