Farum is a wall light by Kichler, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting. A curved arm rises from a round wall plate and carries a stepped lampholder collar and a tapered shade of shiny opal glass. The steel parts are finished in champagne bronze, a warm, light metallic tone.
Size and where to mount it
The light is 24 cm high and 17.8 cm wide and projects 21.5 cm from the wall. Compare that last figure with the space beside a mirror or cabinet, so that an opening cabinet door does not catch the shade. The fitting weighs 0.95 kg. The maker's photos show it with the shade pointing both down and up.
The IP44 rating means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the maker specifies Farum for interiors including bathrooms. It is Class I, so it must be connected to the earth conductor.
What light it gives
The fitting has a G9 lampholder, and a 3 W G9 LED bulb is included. It gives 300 lm at 3000 K, a warm white. That is roughly what an old 25 W incandescent bulb gave, so a single wall light works as light beside a mirror or as supplementary side lighting rather than as the only light in the room. The opal glass diffuses the light and hides the bulb itself.
The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs: with such a bulb and a dimmer in the circuit, the brightness can be adjusted.
Where it fits
The maker intends this wall light mainly for bathrooms, as side lighting beside a mirror, where two are usually fitted, one on each side. It also suits a dining room. The Farum series also comes in polished chrome and in black with champagne bronze details.
