Galena medium wall lantern - 1 light source - Sable Elstead

Galena is a medium-sized wall lantern by Feiss (Generation Lighting), distributed by Elstead Lighting. It has a square body that tapers towards the bottom, four panes of seeded glass with small air bubbles, a stepped roof with a small top section, and an arm that ends in a scroll. The stainless steel is finished in Sable — a dark, matt brown with a slightly grainy texture.

Size and mounting

The lantern is 40.6 cm high and 20.3 cm wide, and it projects 23.5 cm from the wall. Compare the height and width with the free stretch of wall beside your door, and the projection with the width of the path at the entrance, so the roof does not end up at head height in a narrow spot.

It mounts on a flat wall. For the corner of a building the maker offers separately sold C-BKT2 corner brackets in brown or black.

Outdoor use

IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, so the lantern can hang on a facade, beside the front door or on a terrace, exposed to rain. The fitting is protection class I, so it must be connected to an earth conductor — something for the electrician to note before installation.

Light source

Inside is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included. The seeded glass stays clear, so the bulb is visible through the panes — its shape becomes part of the lantern's look, and you choose its colour temperature and brightness yourself. The fitting works with dimmable lamps: with a dimmer you need a bulb marked as dimmable.

The traditional lantern form — the scrolled arm, the stepped roof and the metal frames around the panes — suits the facade of a house as well as the entrances of hotels and restaurants, where several of these fittings can mark the way to the door.
