London Big 4124BL is a classic garden lantern: a square, four-sided head on a telescopic pole with a decorative crossbar beneath the lamp. Head and pole are cast aluminium, powder-coated black (RAL 9005). The set includes the luminaire (art. 4112) and the pole (art. 3010); any other accessories are sold separately by the manufacturer.
How tall it is and how it is installed
The pole is telescopic, adjustable between 120 and 220 cm, and the whole lantern reaches 276 cm at its highest setting. The head is 32 cm wide. Because the height is adjustable, the light point can be matched to the spot without ordering a different pole.
The base is bolted down through three ø10.5 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø240 mm circle, so that bolt pattern has to be prepared in the ground or foundation. The terminals take conductors up to 4 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on, so several lanterns can run from one circuit. The supply cable should have a round sheath of 7–12.5 mm diameter. The lantern weighs 10.1 kg.
How much light it gives
The light source is an integrated 17.5 W Philips Fortimo LED module, so there is no bulb to buy. The module produces 1950 lm, and 1392 lm leaves the luminaire — the second figure is what actually lights the surroundings. 3000 K is a warm white, and CRI 80 is the usual colour rendering for outdoor lighting. The manufacturer states an L70 lifetime of over 50,000 h; the module is replaced by a qualified electrician.
ULOR is 0 % and the BUG rating is B1-U1-G0: no light escapes towards the sky, it falls downwards onto the area around the lantern.
Where it can stand
IP54 protects the luminaire against dust and splashing water from any direction, so the lantern can stand outdoors without a roof over it, and IK07 means resistance to impacts of 2 J. It operates between −20 and +45 °C and is protection class II, which needs no earth conductor. The shape of a classic English street lantern suits a garden, a park path, hotel grounds, a restaurant patio or a terrace.
