Mantra SAONA SUPERFICIE 6623 LED ceiling light 14W 4000K Ø 17 cm matt white

SAONA SUPERFICIE is a round LED ceiling light 17 cm across, mounted on the surface of the ceiling. The aluminium body is finished in matt white and the underside is closed by an acrylic diffuser set slightly into the housing. The fitting stands 4.2 cm below the ceiling.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The built-in LED module draws 14 W and delivers 1260 lm. That is clearly more than the old 60 W bulb, which gave around 800 lm, but less than a room needs from a single fitting — one of these lights a corridor or an entrance hall well, while a larger room takes several.

At 4000 K the light is neutral white, with no yellow or blue cast. The manufacturer states a colour rendering index of Ra 80, which is enough where people pass through and work, but not where clothes or make-up have to be matched. The same fitting is also made in a 3000 K version if you prefer warmer light.

How it is installed

This is a surface-mounted fitting: it screws to the ceiling and needs no cut-out and no void above the board. That also makes it usable on a concrete slab, where a recessed fitting is not an option.

The disc is 17 cm across and drops 4.2 cm below the ceiling, so it takes no noticeable room height. The whole fitting weighs 0.65 kg.

Power and control

The fitting runs on 220–240 V mains and is protection class II, meaning double insulation — no earth conductor is required. The light source is built in and included in the price, so there is no bulb to buy.

The manufacturer states that the fitting is not dimmable. Wiring it to a dimmer will not give smooth control and the driver may misbehave — control comes down to an ordinary switch.
