Norlys Moss 6379AL LED outdoor recessed light 8.4 W 3000 K 36°, light grey RAL 9006

Moss 6379AL is a Norlys outdoor recessed light with a round 13 cm front; the whole fitting is 6.5 cm high. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated, and the front is powder-coated steel in light grey RAL 9006. Clear safety glass covers the light source.

How it is installed

The light goes into a 110 mm hole and is held by a pair of springs, so no screws are needed. According to the manual, the panel you cut the hole in may be 0.5 to 40 mm thick, with about 85–90 mm of free space behind it. It comes with a 0.3 m H05RN-F 3G1 lead that is connected in a separate junction box; Norlys offers box 145ZX for this, sold separately. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor, and it weighs 0.5 kg.

What light it gives

The integrated 8 W LED module produces 840 lm, and 687 lm leaves the luminaire at 8.4 W – about what an old 60 W bulb gave, concentrated in a symmetrical 36° beam. It is a cone of light for a chosen section of wall, an entrance or a plant, not general lighting for the surroundings. The light head tilts by about 15° so you can aim it exactly. 3000 K is warm white, CRI 80.

It is phase-dimmable on both trailing edge (TE) and leading edge (LE), so it works with either type of phase dimmer.

Durability and service

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK06 gives basic impact resistance. The LED module may only be replaced by the Norlys service, and the maker states an L70 lifetime of 59,000 h. Norlys intends it for gardens, private grounds and architectural projects, including facades and fences. The plain round form without ornament fits a modern style.
