Quintiesse Nula QN-NULA1 wall light 1×E14 white with gold interior

Quintiesse Nula QN-NULA1 is a steel wall light with a rounded white shade and a gold interior. A gold-coloured cable carries the shade beneath a slim dark arm, while the rectangular wall plate remains in view. The exposed connection is part of the design rather than a fitting hidden behind the shade.

Allow for the projection

The fitting measures 330 mm high and 127 mm wide, with a projection of 206 mm from the wall. Its narrow front view therefore does not mean that it sits close to the wall. Compare this projection with nearby furniture and the space you need to leave for passing. The backplate itself is 116 mm wide and 132 mm high.

Nula is intended for interiors. Its wall-mounted format makes it an option for supplementary lighting in a living room, bedroom, entrance hall or corridor without taking up a tabletop. The cable length is fixed and the fitting is not height adjustable. Do not assume that the hanging shade offers the adjustment found on some pendant lights.

Choose a compact E14 bulb

The single E14 socket accepts a bulb up to 40 W or an equivalent LED bulb. No bulb is supplied. The manufacturer recommends a small golf-ball-shaped bulb so that it fits within the shade. Check the bulb shape and dimensions as well as its cap type, particularly when comparing decorative bulbs with larger envelopes.

Brightness and colour temperature depend on the bulb you choose; the gold finish is not a specification for warm-white light. Dimming requires a compatible dimmable bulb and dimmer switch, with the switch purchased separately. This is a mains-voltage fitting for 220–240 V, in electrical protection Class I.

White shade, dark structure

Designed by Lisa McDennon for Hinkley, Nula brings together a curved shade, an exposed cable and an angular wall attachment. The white exterior and gold interior contrast with the dark support. These details suit modern, designer-led and industrial schemes, including those with glamour accents. The shade is steel rather than ceramic.
