The Steinel RS PRO P1 S (art. no. 056056) is a round LED luminaire with a white housing and an opal plastic diffuser, designed for mounting on a ceiling or a wall. It is the version without a motion sensor — the so-called slave — from the Professional line, and it works together with the sensor version of the same series.
How the version without a sensor works
The luminaire does not detect motion on its own. The manufacturer intends it to be connected by cable to an RS PRO P1 sensor luminaire, and up to 10 units can be linked in one group. When the sensor in the master luminaire detects movement, the whole connected run switches on — a solution for a long corridor or a stairwell, where one sensor light is not enough and several independent ones would each react separately.
The light comes on gradually, without a jump in brightness, because the manufacturer uses a soft start.
How much light, and what kind
Drawing 8.3 W, the luminaire delivers 953 lm, slightly more than an old 60 W bulb. The 3000 K colour temperature is warm white, and a colour rendering index of CRI 82 is sufficient for lighting circulation areas. The LED module is integrated and cannot be replaced — at the end of its life the whole luminaire is replaced. The manufacturer quotes a service life of 100,000 h until the output falls to 70% (L70 to IEC 62717).
Dimensions, mounting and operating conditions
The diffuser is 28 cm in diameter and 11 cm high, and the luminaire weighs 0.37 kg. The IP54 rating means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, and the operating range of -10 to 40 °C also allows mounting in an unheated stairwell or porch. The luminaire is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor.
It runs on 220–240 V. For the installer: the maximum inrush current is 13 A, and the manufacturer allows up to 87 luminaires on a single B16 circuit breaker.
