Thoro IVAR Ceiling Light, Taupe, LED 8 W 3000 K CRI 90, Fluted Tube Ø6.4 cm, DALI-2/PUSH DIMM

IVAR is a ceiling light shaped as a short aluminium tube in taupe — a greyish beige — with vertical fluting running its full height. Underneath, set back inside the housing, sits the reflector that sends the light downwards.

How big it is and how it is mounted

The tube is 12 cm tall and 6.4 cm in diameter — that is how far it projects from the ceiling and how much of the ceiling it covers. The fitting weighs 0.41 kg, so two screws with wall plugs hold it without any reinforcement of the ceiling.

The manufacturer's instructions show surface mounting in three steps: the base is screwed to the ceiling, the live and neutral wires go into push-in connectors, and the tube is fitted onto the base with a twist. The light is hard-wired to a 230 V circuit and has no switch of its own.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The built-in LED module draws 8 W and delivers 1069 lm — clearly more than an old 60 W bulb, which gave about 800 lm. At 3000 K the light is warm white, softer than daylight, and CRI 90 means wood, fabrics and wall colours look natural under it. The manufacturer also states that the light is flicker-free.

The beam angle is 36°, so the light falls in a focused cone: from a 2.5 m ceiling it covers a circle of about 1.6 m on the floor. One fitting therefore lights a chosen spot, and even light across a whole room takes several fittings in a row. The light source is part of the fitting and comes with it — there is no bulb to buy or replace.

Dimming

Every IVAR fitting comes with DALI-2 and PUSH DIMM control as standard. Dimming needs something in the installation: a DALI controller or an ordinary momentary push-button wired into the circuit. Without either, the light simply runs at full output.

Where it fits

The manufacturer designed the IVAR collection for living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms and entrance areas, and among commercial interiors for offices and restaurants. The form is minimalist: a single colour and no decoration apart from the fluting. The same tube is also made as a wall light and as a single and a six-light pendant, in ten colours, so several fittings can be matched within one room.
