Whitecap is a semi-flush ceiling light by Quoizel with a two-tier shade in tinted amber glass, the upper bowl finishing in a scalloped, fluted rim. The metal ceiling plate, short stem and bottom finial are in a mottled cocoa brown. The fitting is distributed by Elstead Lighting.
Size and mounting
The light measures 29.7 cm across and 22.6 cm high. The shade does not sit tight to the ceiling but hangs a few centimetres below it on a short stem, so it takes less height than a pendant while leaving a gap through which light also reaches the ceiling. Compare the 22.6 cm with your room and door height, especially in a hallway.
The round ceiling plate is 13.3 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm deep, enough to cover a standard junction box. The fitting weighs 2.72 kg and is made of steel and glass. It is a Class I appliance, which means the protective earth conductor must be connected to the body.
Light sources
Inside are three E14 lampholders for bulbs of up to 40 W each. Bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself; the total output depends on which three bulbs you fit. The amber glass warms the light — even a neutral-white bulb looks warmer under this shade, and the fluting breaks the glow into bright bands.
Where it fits
The manufacturer intends Whitecap for dining rooms, kitchens and dressing rooms, and it also suits a bedroom or hallway. The form is classic: glass moulded into petals and dark metal follow the lines of traditional ceiling lights. The fitting is for indoor use only.
