NELA 1140 is a wall light built around an opal glass globe held by a curved black metal band. The globe rests on a gold ring, reached by a gold arm from the round black wall plate. The body is metal, the shade glass.
Size and the space it needs
The fitting is 23 cm high, 19 cm wide and projects 22 cm from the wall. That last figure is the one worth comparing with the space left beside a bed or in a passage — the light reaches 22 cm into the room. It weighs 0.35 kg, so the load on the wall is small.
The maker intends it for the living room, bedroom, dining room, kitchen, study or office and for a hallway or entrance hall — wherever a wall light works as additional light at a particular spot rather than as room lighting.
Which lamp you have to buy
The fitting has one light point with an E14 socket and runs on 230 V mains. No lamp is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself; check the permitted lamp wattage on the fitting's own rating label.
The opal glass shade diffuses the light and hides the filament, while the metal band screens the globe from above and from one side. The light therefore leaves mainly downwards and forwards rather than evenly in all directions.
Mounting and finish
The light fixes to a bracket screwed to the wall with two screws. The manufacturer supplies the fixing hardware and the instructions in the box; the only tool needed is a drill.
Body and band are metal finished in black, while the arm and the ring under the shade are gold. Ingress protection IP20 means the fitting belongs in dry interiors only — not outdoors and not in a bathroom shower zone.
