Hadrian is a small flush ceiling light with a clear, one-piece cylindrical glass shade and a domed base. The shade is held by upright steel rods between the ceiling pan and a lower ring, finished in oil rubbed bronze. The design comes from the brand Hinkley and is distributed in Europe by Quintiesse, part of the Elstead group.
Dimensions and installation
The fitting is 196 mm in diameter and 185 mm high, so it comes down just under 19 cm from the ceiling. The manufacturer presents the range as a decorative alternative to recessed lighting — useful where a downlight is not an option and a pendant would hang too low. The ceiling pan is 196 mm across and 35 mm high. The light weighs 1.53 kg.
It is a protection class I fitting wired directly to 220–240 V mains, so an earth conductor must be available in the junction box.
Bulb and light
No bulb is included. The fitting takes one E27 lamp of up to 60 W, and the colour and brightness depend on the bulb you choose. The clear glass leaves the bulb on show, so its shape and look become part of the light, which is why the manufacturer pictures it with a classic filament bulb. The fitting works with dimmable lamps where a dimmer is installed.
Where it suits
An IP44 rating means protection against water splashed from any direction, and the manufacturer intends the light for interiors including bathrooms. It also works in a hallway. The Hadrian collection has a retro character and comes in four metal finishes and with either a clear or an opal shade. If the glass breaks, a replacement shade can be ordered separately as part number GS1167.
