KARO III is a pendant light with three white glass globes hanging on separate cables beneath a round black ceiling canopy. Above each globe the cable runs into a short sleeve in satin gold, and the frame is made of lacquered steel.
Size and suspension
The canopy is 40 cm across and 3 cm high. The globes come in different sizes – two of 12 cm and one of 15 cm – and hang at three heights, with the whole cluster 46 cm wide. That width keeps its proportions over a table roughly 80–90 cm wide.
The maximum drop is 100 cm, measured from the ceiling to the bottom of the lowest globe. Subtract this from your ceiling height to see where the light will hang – over a dining table the lowest globe should sit 70–80 cm above the top. The manufacturer specifies that shortening the cables may only be done by a qualified electrician.
Bulbs and switching
Each globe has a G9 lampholder for an LED bulb of up to 12 W. The manufacturer allows LED sources only, so halogen G9 bulbs are ruled out, and bulbs are not included – you choose the colour and brightness yourself.
The light has two lighting sections split 1/2: one globe and the other two can be switched separately, for example with a two-gang switch. This needs two live conductors at the ceiling box; on a single circuit all three globes light together.
Connection and interiors
KARO III is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth conductor in the ceiling box. It is intended for indoor use, and the box contains the fitting, the shades and the installation instructions.
The manufacturer classes its style as classic: smooth opal globes and gold accents against black, with no ornament, also sit well in modern interiors. It is intended for use over the table in a dining room or kitchen, in living rooms and bedrooms, and in studies, offices, hotels and restaurants. It is made in Poland, in Częstochowa.
